Categorize work items in the list view
This page is for business projects
To check whether you’re in a business or software project, select More actions (•••) next to the project name in either the header or the sidebar. At the bottom of the menu that opens, the project type will be shown.
Organize and break down your team’s work by grouping your work items by category. Use categories to classify your project’s work items or represent a large body of work that can be broken down into a number of smaller work items.
Display or hide the category field
To hide or display the category as a field on your list, you can:
Select the plus icon at the top-right of your list. A drop-down menu will appear.
Use the checkbox to hide or display the Category field from your list.
Add a category
Only project admins can add categories
Only one category can be added to a work item
To add a new category to your work items, you can:
Navigate to the list view of your business project.
Select the cell in the row of the work items you’d like to categorize, under the category field in your list.
Enter a new name for your category, and select enter.
The new category appears in the selected field.
To add an existing category to your work items, you can:
Navigate to the list view of your business project.
Under the category field, select the cell in the row of the work items you’d like to categorize.
Select a category from the existing categories in your business project.
Rename a category
Only project admins can rename categories.
To rename a category in your list, you can:
Select the category that you’d like to edit.
Select Edit [].
Enter a new name for your category, then press enter, or select Done [].
Delete a category
Only project admins can delete categories.
To delete a category in your list, you can:
Select the category that you’d like to delete.
Select Delete [].
Confirm that you want to delete the category by selecting Delete.
